US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, once a staunch advocate of former President Donald Trump, is now reportedly considering a presidential run in 2028, according to a statement from TIME on Saturday. The Georgia Republican, known for her fierce support of Trump, has recently distanced herself from her former leader, prompting Trump to label her a ‘traitor.’
Greene, who played a key role in the push to release documents related to disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has become an unexpected critic of Trump, furthering tensions within the MAGA movement. Trump has criticized her for reportedly deviating from his stance on various issues, including economic policy and international relations, particularly his approach to US-Israel relations.
Despite Trump’s public denunciation, Greene has not responded to numerous calls or messages from TIME, with her spokesperson also failing to provide a statement. In a recent statement, she expressed her intention to resign from Congress in January, following her recent public disagreements with Trump.
She has warned that Trump’s labeling of her as a ‘traitor’ is ‘absolutely untrue’ and has warned that such rhetoric could ‘radicalize people’ and endanger her life. While she continues to fight for the full release of all Epstein-related files, Trump has urged Republicans to resist aiding Democrats in what he calls ‘the Epstein hoax,’ claiming his opponents are trying to harm his presidency.
