Israeli Airstrike Kills Senior Hezbollah Commander in Beirut
An Israeli airstrike in Beirut has killed Haytham Ali Tabatabai, a senior Hezbollah commander and second-in-command of the militant group. The attack in the Haret Hreik district, a Hezbollah stronghold, killed at least five others and injured 28. Both Hezbollah and the IDF confirmed his death. Netanyahu praised the strike as part of Israel’s efforts to dismantle the group, which it accuses of terrorism. The US had previously offered a $5 million bounty on Tabatabai’s head.
