Ubisoft has unveiled Teammates, an innovative first-person shooter that leverages AI to create dynamic squadmates and an AI assistant named Jas, as well as two AI squadmates called Pablo and Sofia. The game, developed using the Snowdrop Engine, enables players to issue natural voice commands to direct Pablo and Sofia during combat or puzzle-solving scenarios. This project follows Ubisoft’s recent pivot away from NFTs and the metaverse, which had previously faced significant criticism and setbacks. The development team behind Teammates is the same group responsible for Ubisoft’s Neo NPCs, showcased at GDC 2024, indicating the company’s continued investment in AI technology.
