Conor McGregor Claims Ibogaine Treatment in Mexico Saved His Life and Brain

UFC star Conor McGregor has claimed that a 36-hour Ibogaine treatment in Tijuana, Mexico, guided by Stanford University doctors, saved his life and healed his brain after experiencing visions during the process. The treatment, which involves a psychoactive substance from plants, is being explored for its potential to treat traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), PTSD, anxiety, and depression. McGregor described the experience as ‘incredible, intense, and absolutely eye-opening,’ during which he claimed to have seen visions of his own death and received a spiritual message from God. Despite the potential risks associated with the drug, including unwanted psychological effects and cardiotoxicity, Stanford researchers highlighted its possible benefits for veterans with TBIs in a January 2024 report. McGregor’s recent treatment comes after he accepted an 18-month suspension from the UFC for failing to comply with anti-doping policies, which may allow him to return to competition in March 2026.
