Rev. Jesse Jackson Discharged from Hospital Following Rare Brain Disorder Treatment

Rev. Jesse Jackson, a prominent civil rights activist, has been released from a Chicago hospital after a 12-day treatment for a rare brain disorder. The 84-year-old minister, who previously faced Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2013, was recently reclassified as having progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a condition without a known cure.

His son, Yusef Jackson, shared the update, highlighting the family’s gratitude for support and prayers. Jackson was admitted to the hospital earlier this month to be under observation for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a rare neurodegenerative disease that affects balance, movement and eye motion. Jackson was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2013. In April 2025, the diagnosis was reclassified as PSP, for which there is currently no cure.
