Warner Music Group and Suno Collaborate on AI-Generated Music Using Artist Likenesses

Warner Music Group, one of the world’s leading music labels, has entered into a licensing agreement with Suno, an AI music platform, to enable users to create AI-generated music using the voices and likenesses of artists who opt in. The deal allows artists to retain full control over how their likeness and music are used, with the focus on opening new revenue streams and allowing greater interaction between artists and fans through the use of AI-generated content. This move also marks the end of Warner’s previous lawsuit against Suno over alleged copyright infringement, which accused the company of scraping copyrighted material from its platform.

In addition to the licensing agreement, Suno has announced plans to use licensed music from Warner Music Group to build its next-generation music generation models, which it claims will surpass its current v5 model. The Verge reports that these models will be part of Suno’s broader expansion into the AI music generation space. Furthermore, Suno will be implementing a paid subscription model for users who wish to download songs, with each tier providing a certain number of downloads per month. This move is part of Suno’s strategy to monetize its platform and provide users with a more structured and sustainable experience.
