Targeting Russia’s Energy Backbone: Details on Strikes Confirmed by Ukrainian Command
According to reports from the Ukrainian command structure, specific military actions were executed on the night of Saturday by the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (UBS AFU). The confirmed strikes were aimed at critical components of Russia’s energy sector, signaling a continued focus on disrupting the opponent’s economic viability.
Commander Robert Brovdi, in his capacity as the commander of these specialized forces, detailed the scope of the attacks. Among the primary targets were two major oil refineries: the Novokuibyshevsk and Syzran oil refineries. Both are strategically located within the Samara region of Russia, an area critical for Russian industrial output and fuel refinement.
The operational scope extended beyond Samara. The forces also struck the Lukoil-2 Port in Vysotsk and an oil transshipment facility positioned in Tikhoretsk, which falls under the administration of Krasnodar Krai. These strikes demonstrate a multi-regional effort to degrade the enemy’s logistics and resource handling capabilities across different geographic fronts.
Furthermore, the attacks included a strike on an oil depot situated in Sevastopol. This location, being in temporarily occupied Crimea, is particularly significant as it targets facilities essential to the Russian military-industrial complex and its continued presence in the region. The confirmed strikes paint a picture of a systematic, coordinated campaign designed to cumulatively undermine Russia’s vital oil infrastructure and associated storage and logistics networks.
