Former Obama Doctor Urges Biden to Undergo Cognitive Testing

Former President Barack Obama’s White House physician, Jeffrey Kuhlman, is calling for former President Joe Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, to have conducted cognitive tests to assess Biden’s fitness for office. This follows Republican-led investigations into claims of a cover-up of Biden’s mental fitness, which include allegations of unauthorized executive actions through an autopen. President Trump has ordered an investigation into the alleged conspiracy, claiming the public was shielded from the truth about executive power usage.

Kuhlman, who was previously the physician for Barack Obama, shared these views in an interview with The Washington Post, stating that Biden’s doctor should have performed such tests during his last year in office, given his age. This comes amid Republican-led investigations into allegations that Biden’s aides may have concealed his cognitive decline and used an autopen to execute executive actions without his knowledge, as reported by President Trump.

O’Connor, who Kuhlman first appointed as Biden’s doctor in 2009, declared in a 2024 report that the then-81-year-old president ‘continues to be fit for duty.’ However, the report did not include any neurocognitive testing. Kuhlman described O’Connor as ‘a good doctor’ who gave trusted medical advice, but noted that the investigation might reveal whether he intentionally withheld information. The White House’s medical report suggested Biden was a ‘healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male,’ but critics argue that the report did not sufficiently assess his cognitive state.

President Trump has ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to probe whether Biden’s aides ‘abused the power of Presidential signatures through the use of an autopen to conceal Biden’s cognitive decline and assert Article II authority,’ calling it one of the ‘most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history.’ Biden has denied the allegations, stating that he made all his decisions during his presidency. The ongoing investigation, led by the House Oversight Committee, has summoned O’Connor for a deposition and is scrutinizing his assessment of Biden’s mental and physical fitness for the office. The committee has also sought interviews with Biden’s senior advisers and former White House aides, highlighting the gravity of the probe.

The controversy over Biden’s cognitive state is not limited to Republicans alone. The book Original Sin, authored by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson, has detailed internal White House concerns about Biden’s mental state and age. While the book paints a picture of Biden as a ‘senior member of the board’ in a group of five leaders, the Biden family has dismissed the book as ‘political fairy smut for the permanent, professional chattering class.’ These allegations have intensified scrutiny of Biden’s presidency, particularly amid heightened political tensions and calls for accountability in executive decision-making.
