Reagan National Airport Halts Flights for Trump’s Army Birthday Parade

Flight operations at Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) will be suspended during President Trump’s military parade on June 14, commemorating the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday. The event, which also coincides with Flag Day and Trump’s birthday, will feature flyovers, fireworks, and a military display, prompting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to implement temporary flight restrictions.

According to the airport’s press release, the FAA is collaborating with the Department of Defense to finalize the flyover plans, which include the number and types of aircraft involved. Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) for the Washington, D.C., area will be issued in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security to ensure safety and security during the celebration. These restrictions will expand the DC SFRA and DC FRZ, implementing traffic management initiatives (TMI) that will halt all arrivals and departures during the event’s peak.

Passengers are advised to check their flight status directly with their airline, as the airport cautions that scheduled flights on the evening of June 14 may be affected. Additionally, the DCA recommends using the D.C. Metrorail to access the airport, warning of increased travel time due to roadway closures and heightened pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

The parade, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude at 9:30 p.m., will take place on Constitution Ave NW between 15th Street and 23rd Street. The event will feature historical U.S. Army personnel re-enactors, period-accurate equipment, vehicles, and military bands. Organizers emphasize the importance of the occasion in inspiring a new generation to embrace the spirit of service, resilience, and leadership that defines the United States.
