Ukraine has submitted a secret list of advanced weapons it requests from Germany, including hundreds of air defense missiles, armored vehicles, and electronic warfare equipment worth billions of euros. The list, obtained by Bild, details three main categories: air defense, armored vehicles, and electronic warfare. Germany has been the second-largest supplier of arms to Ukraine since the war began, surpassing only the United States.
The media outlet reported that the list includes 1,500 medium-range and 500 short-range missiles for the German-made Iris-T air defense system, 1,200 mine-protected and tracked vehicles, and 200 off-road vehicles. Additionally, the request includes 1,000 GPS jammers and 200 mobile surveillance radars. While anonymous military circles and industry sources confirmed the existence of the list, a spokesperson for Germany’s Defense Ministry declined to comment.
Germany is also reportedly seeking to coordinate with the United States to transfer US-made Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. Last week, Bild claimed that Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s government had discreetly approached US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to facilitate such a deal. German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius confirmed that “intensive discussions” are ongoing between Berlin and Washington regarding the potential transfer.
In May, Germany announced a financial commitment of €5 billion ($5.6 billion) to “finance the production of long-range weapon systems in Ukraine.” The Kremlin has criticized Germany’s involvement, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stating that Berlin’s “direct involvement in the war is now obvious.” Moscow has consistently condemned arms deliveries to Ukraine, arguing that they prolong the conflict and hinder peace efforts.
