Trump Nominates Seasoned Military Leaders for Global Command Posts

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Wednesday that President Donald Trump has nominated two high-ranking military officials for key command positions. Navy Vice Adm. Charles B. Cooper II, who has served in various capacities including as a surface warfare officer and advisor to the Interior Minister of Afghanistan, has been nominated for promotion to admiral and leadership of CENTCOM at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. Air Force Lt. Gen. Dagvin R.M. Anderson, currently serving as director for Joint Force Development at the Pentagon, has been nominated for promotion to general and assignment as commander of AFRICOM in Stuttgart, Germany. These appointments follow Trump’s earlier nomination of Daniel ‘Razin’ Caine for the position of Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman, who is set to undergo Senate confirmation hearings.
