Honduran National Charged with Illegally Entering Pensacola Navy Base After Crash

A Honduran national, Orly Moises Garcia Hernandez, has been charged by federal authorities following a collision with a barricade at the Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida. According to the Department of Justice, Garcia Hernandez allegedly crashed his vehicle into a checkpoint barrier on May 25, fleeing from law enforcement and entering the restricted military base on foot. Military police eventually captured him at gunpoint during a pursuit.

Garcia Hernandez, 34, is currently being held without bond in Santa Rosa County Jail. The DOJ alleges that he violated federal laws by illegally entering a military property and resisting arrest. If found guilty, he could receive up to 18 months in prison and be deported. The case is part of a larger federal initiative known as Operation Take Back America, which aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle transnational criminal organizations.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding border security and law enforcement’s response to illegal immigration. The DOJ stated that this operation seeks to streamline efforts across the Department of Homeland Security to address both immigration enforcement and organized crime. Garcia Hernandez’s case is among several recent developments in federal immigration law enforcement, including the handling of an accused MS-13 ringleader and the release of an illegal immigrant linked to a fatal shooting incident.

The DOJ’s public statement emphasizes the broader implications of this case, positioning it as part of a national strategy to enhance security and prevent the activities of criminal organizations. The investigation is currently being managed by the U.S. Navy and Homeland Security Investigations, reflecting the interagency cooperation required to address such cases effectively.
