Authorities have charged Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian man living in the U.S. illegally, with a hate crime and terrorist acts after he allegedly attacked a pro-Israel gathering in Boulder, Colorado. The incident, described as a ‘targeted terror attack’ by the FBI, occurred during a pro-Hamas event where the group ‘Run for Their Lives’ was advocating for the release of Israeli hostages. Soliman, 45, was charged with first-degree murder, assault, and use of explosives, and his actions caused injuries to eight individuals, including one in critical condition.
The FBI confirmed that Soliman, who entered the U.S. on a work visa that has since expired, was arrested after throwing two Molotov cocktails at the crowd. The attack, which took place on Pearl Street near the Boulder Courthouse, led to burn injuries and resulted in a federal investigation. During an interview, Soliman stated that he wanted to kill all Zionist people and had been planning the attack for nearly a year. He also expressed his intent to carry out similar actions in the future.
Following the incident, multiple U.S. politicians and Jewish groups have condemned the attack as an antisemitic act. The FBI emphasized that the event was a targeted terror attack, and local authorities confirmed no fatalities, with a press, conference scheduled to provide further updates. Soliman remains in custody, facing significant charges that could result in a life sentence or the death penalty under federal law.
