DHS Honors Marine Killed by Mexican Cartel, Touts Trump’s Crackdown on Cartels

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently released a video that honors the memory of Marine Corps veteran Nicholas Quets, who was tragically killed by the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico. This video also showcases the actions taken by the administration to combat drug cartels, including designating these groups as foreign terrorist organizations under President Trump’s leadership.

The video, which is approximately two and a half minutes long, begins by referring to drug cartels as ‘foreign terrorist organizations,’ a classification made by the administration. It features an interview with retired Army Lt. Col. Warren D. Quotes Jr. and Patricia Quets, the mother of Nicholas Quets. Their son, Nicholas, was shot and killed at a Sinaloa Cartel checkpoint on his way to Rocky Point, Mexico, with friends on October 18, 2024, while attempting to steal his pickup truck before shooting him in the back through the heart.

Quets’ father expressed his validation and vindication after speaking with Trump. The Biden administration and the Kamala Harris campaign were said to have provided no feedback regarding his son’s death. The video highlights the administration’s efforts to combat drug cartels, including the president’s signing of an executive order on his first day in office to designate these organizations as foreign terrorist organizations, thereby giving law enforcement the ability to ‘crack down’ on sex trafficking operations originating from these cartels in the United States.

Additionally, on what would have been Quets’ 32nd birthday, the Treasury Department announced sanctions on six individuals and seven entities alleged to be involved in a money-laundering scheme supporting the Sinaloa Cartel. Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated in her statement:
