Rep. Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California, has taken a notable position in the ongoing debate surrounding former President Joe Biden’s fitness for office. In recent statements, Khanna asserted that it is now ‘obvious’ to him that Biden ‘was not in a condition to run for re-election.’ This marks a significant shift from his previous comments, where he had described Biden as ‘fully coherent’ in 2024.
Khanna made these remarks at the end of his appearance on Fox News Channel’s ‘The Story,’ where he criticized the Democratic Party for failing to call for Biden’s withdrawal from the re-election race. ‘In light of the facts that have come out, Joe Biden should not have run for reelection, and we should have had an open primary,’ Khanna said, citing a need for honesty within the party.
During the interview, Fox News’ Martha MacCallum presented several clips of Khanna’s previous statements regarding Biden’s mental state, including his 2024 comment that Biden was ‘fully coherent.’ MacCallum challenged Kh,anna on his accuracy, prompting him to admit that he did not have the ‘full picture’ at the time.
Khanna’s remarks have drawn significant attention, particularly after his admission that he may have been mistaken about Biden’s condition. However, his current position underscores growing concerns about the former president’s cognitive abilities, a topic of increasing public scrutiny. The White House has not yet issued an official statement on these comments, as reported by Fox News.
