A California police department has released bodycam footage from a January incident where an officer shot and killed a ‘disturbed’ man after he stole another officer’s gun, began chanting about Jesus, and refused to comply with orders to put the weapon down. The incident, which took place on January 24, involved 26-year-old Osean McClintock, who was identified as the suspect. McClintock, described as a shirtless man possibly of White or Hispanic origin with a shaved head, was involved in a physical altercation with a female officer after he approached her patrol car. The female officer had drawn her gun as McClintock tried to grab it, but he eventually succeeded in taking it from her. McClintock then pointed the gun at her, prompting the male officer to demand he put it down. When McClintock refused, the officer fired multiple shots, resulting in his death. First responders performed CPR and first aid before paramedics arrived. The investigation into the shooting, which involves an officer, remains active and could take up to a year to conclude.
