Tom Homan Condemns ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ Critics for Remaining Silent on Biden’s Migrant Crisis

Border czar Tom Homan, during an appearance on CNN’s ‘State of the Union,’ accused lawmakers of hypocrisy for criticizing the ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ detention center while remaining silent on the migrant deaths under former President Joe Biden. The facility, located in the Everglades, has faced scrutiny over its conditions, remote location, and environmental impact. Homan asserted that the center adheres to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement standards, calling them the ‘highest’ in the industry. He pointed out that critics failed to address the significant rise in migrant deaths during Biden’s term, including the unprecedented number of fatalities in 2022.

Lawmakers who condemned the facility’s conditions were reportedly absent during the surge in migrant deaths under President Biden, according to Homan. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data, 856 migrants died attempting to cross the southern border in fiscal year 2022 — the highest number ever recorded. Homan criticized the administration for not addressing the trafficking of half a million children, claiming that Trump’s approach has been more effective. He argued that the failure to push for stronger border security has resulted in a crisis where migrants are ‘feeding the American people.’

Homan also referenced other issues, such as the risk of fentanyl poisoning and the trafficking of women and children, which he said were largely ignored during Biden’s presidency. He claimed that the administration under Trump has done more to locate and assist those children. ‘You didn’t hear a word about half a million children being trafficked in the country and them not being able to locate 300,000,’ Homan said. He emphasized the need for border security as a cornerstone of national security, stating, ‘You can’t have strong national security in this country if we don’t have border security.’ Critics argue that the situation underscores the importance of a balanced approach to immigration policy, combining humane treatment with secure borders.
