Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal disclosed that the Cabinet of Ministers will distribute UAH 35 billion in subsidies to support teachers’ salaries and modernize school food service facilities during a meeting on Monday. The initiative underscores the government’s efforts to improve the education sector by ensuring timely salary payments for educators and upgrading infrastructure to enhance the learning environment for students.
The funding will cover the full salary costs for teachers this year, addressing concerns about delayed payments and underfunding in the education system. Additionally, the allocation includes resources for modernizing school food service facilities, which are essential for providing nutritious meals to students and maintaining hygiene standards in schools.
Shmyhal emphasized that the measure is part of a broader strategy to stabilize the education sector and attract and retain qualified teachers. The government aims to create a sustainable financial framework that supports both current and future educational needs, ensuring that students receive a high-quality education and that staff are adequately compensated for their services.
