A JetBlue aircraft rolled off the runway while landing at Boston’s Logan Airport, prompting the closure of the runway and the relocation of passengers. No injuries were reported, and the incident is under investigation. The airport said in a statement that there were no injuries and that the runway was closed. Passengers are reportedly being bussed to a terminal at the airport while the aircraft is being assessed.
"Safety is JetBlue’s top priority. We will conduct a full investigation of the incident and will work closely with the relevant authorities to understand the cause," the airline told Fox News Digital.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) lifted a ground stop that was issued for all flights departing the airport. JetBlue flight 312 took off from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport at 8:41 a.m. CT and was in the process of landing around 11:49 a.m. ET when it went off the runway and into a patch of grass.
"It appears it went in at a low speed, the grass doesn’t seem to be torn up, indicating that it was a very controlled speed that went in there, but clearly lost steering for some reason," Former Massport CEO Tom Kinton told WCVB, a local affiliate of ABC.
At the time of this writing, the cause of the incident is still unknown.
