Texas Woman Indicted for Plotting Ex-Husband’s Murder with Fentanyl-Laced Chocolates

Indictment of Texas Woman for Plotting Ex-Husband’s Murder

Pamela Jean Stanley, 63, from Coleman, Texas, has been indicted for allegedly planning to kill her ex-husband by sending fentanyl-laced chocolates disguised as a congratulatory gift from a fake travel agency. The indictment was handed down on July 10, marking a significant development in the case. Stanley’s arrest occurred on May 30 in Parker County, following a sting operation conducted by the Special Crimes Unit (SCU) of the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Sheriff Russ Authier, Stanley concocted a scheme to send her ex-husband poisoned chocolates, posing them as a congratulatory present from a travel agency celebrating his recent engagement. The plan was uncovered when a tipster provided information prompting an investigation. The SCU investigators, playing the role of fentanyl dealers, coordinated with Stanley in the parking lot of the Scottish Inn Motel in Weatherford. Stanley, who traveled several hours from Coleman, Texas, to complete the deal, was immediately taken into custody upon accepting what she believed to be fentanyl.

A search of her vehicle revealed 11.76 grams of methamphetamine, which tested positive and was submitted to the Parker County evidence vault. Stanley faces three felony charges: criminal solicitation with intent to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Her bond was set at $450,000, highlighting the severity of the charges against her.

Authorities praised the SCU investigators for their swift action, as well as the tipster who provided the crucial information. Sheriff Authier emphasized the collaborative effort that led to the successful resolution of the case, underscoring the role of both law enforcement and citizens in combating such threats to public safety.
