In a recent petition filed with the EAC, AFL seeks to amend the national voter registration form to require applicants to present one of several documents confirming their citizenship status, such as a U.S. passport, birth certificate, consular report of birth abroad, certificate of naturalization, or state-issued REAL-ID compliant license. The group’s request comes amid continued legal battles over Trump’s prior executive order aimed at enforcing citizenship verification for voters, which was recently blocked by federal courts.
