Senate GOP Launches Massive Ad Campaign for ‘One, Big, Beautiful Bill’ Ahead of Midterms
Senate Republicans, led by Majority Leader John Thune, are launching an eight-figure ad blitz to promote their newly passed domestic policy package, dubbed the ‘One, Big, Beautiful Bill.’ The campaign, spearheaded by the One Nation group, aims to highlight the measure’s tax cuts, border security provisions, and immigration policies as part of a broader strategy to secure GOP gains in the upcoming midterms. The legislation, which includes extending Trump’s 2017 tax cuts and eliminating taxes on tips and overtime pay, faces criticism from Democrats who warn of its impact on Medicaid and rural hospitals.
The national ad campaign, which will run for several weeks on broadcast, cable, and digital platforms, is part of a concerted messaging effort by the White House and Senate Republicans to showcase how the tax cuts will benefit working-class Americans. The ads will run in key states such as Alaska, Florida, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, and West Virginia, and will thank GOP Senators Dan Sullivan, Ashley Moody, Jon Husted, Lindsey Graham, John Cornyn, and Shelley Moore Capito for helping to pass the megabill.
One Nation chairman former GOP Sen. Cory Gardner emphasized the importance of the campaign, stating, ‘One Nation will never cease to educate Americans about the Republican Party’s historic effort to pass the Working Family Tax Cuts.’ The measure, which includes Trump’s 2024 campaign promises on tax cuts, immigration, defense, and the debt limit, also provides billions for border security and codifies the president’s immigration crackdown. However, the legislation is projected to surge the national debt by $4 trillion over the next decade, with some Republicans disputing the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) projections.
Notably, the bill includes significant changes to Medicaid, the federal program providing health coverage to about 71 million low-income Americans. The CBO estimates that 10 million people could lose their health insurance over the next decade. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has criticized the bill, claiming it will gut Medicaid and force rural hospitals and nursing homes to close, with DNC Chair Ken Martin stating, ‘Rural hospitals were already on the brink of collapse thanks to Donald Trump, but now he has put the last nail in the coffin for rural hospitals with his billionaire budget bill.’
As both parties prepare for the upcoming midterms, the ‘One, Big, Beautiful Bill’ is positioned as a key part of their messaging strategies. While Republicans argue that the legislation represents a victory for President Trump’s agenda, Democrats warn of its broader economic and social impacts, particularly on vulnerable populations such as low-income Americans and rural communities.
