Ukraine to Establish Regional Logistics Hub in Egypt

Ukraine has announced plans to establish a regional logistics headquarters in Egypt, a significant move to bolster its economic relations with the Middle East and Africa. The announcement comes amid a strategic effort to maintain and expand trade ties in the region, which has been crucial for Ukraine’s economic stability. Deputy Head of Ukraine’s President’s Office, Ihor Zhovkva, emphasized the importance of the Egypt-Ukraine partnership during a recent phone call with Egypt’s Special Advisor on National, Faiza Abou El-Naga.

According to Zhovkva, Egypt remains Ukraine’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and Africa, with bilateral trade volumes almost reaching pre-war levels. This development highlights the resilience of the trade relationship despite the ongoing challenges posed by the war in Ukraine. The establishment of the logistics center is expected to facilitate smoother trade operations and enhance supply chain efficiency, benefiting both nations.

The move is part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to diversify its trade partners and reduce dependency on a single market. By investing in a regional logistics hub in Egypt, Ukraine aims to secure access to key markets in Africa and the Middle East, which are vital for its export of agricultural products and industrial goods. This initiative also underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in navigating the complex geopolitical landscape.

Abou El-Naga, representing Egypt’s side, welcomed the prospect of expanded cooperation. She emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s economic recovery and its role as a critical partner in the region. The collaborative efforts between the two nations are seen as a model for fostering economic resilience and mutual growth.
