Recent polling data from The Wall Street Journal reveals a significant decline in the approval ratings of the Democratic Party, with a current rating of 33%. Conducted by John Anzalone and Tony Fabrizio, the survey highlights a three-decade low in favorability, as 63% of respondents hold an unfavorable view of the party. This indicates a net negative favorability of 30 percentage points, a stark contrast to previous years.
During the survey, although voters expressed concerns about the president’s economic and tariff policies, they still trust Republicans more than Democrats to address these issues. The poll also shows that while the Democratic Party faces substantial disapproval, there is still a slight advantage for Democrats in congressional elections, with 46% of voters indicating a preference for a Democrat over a Republican.
The survey, which included 1,500 registered voters, has a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points. Anzalone noted that the Democratic brand is so discredited that it lacks the credibility to critique Trump or the Republican Party effectively. He emphasized the need for the party to reconnect with real voters and working people on their economic message to avoid future challenges.
