Colorado Dentist’s Lover Shares ‘4,000 Texts in 18 Days’ During Murder Trial

Details of emotional affair revealed as Colorado dentist’s lover shares staggering ‘4,000 texts in 18 days’ during murder trial testimony

Craig, 47, stands accused of poisoning his wife, 43, with lethal doses of cyanide and tetrahydrozoline, following a methodical and allegedly planned act. Karin Cain, a licensed orthodontist from Texas, testified about their emotional affair, which began at a conference in Las Vegas where she met Craig in early February 2023. At the time, Cain had recently finalized her divorce after 27 years and was navigating life as a single mother to two adult children.

Cain stated that their initial interaction involved a conversation that made her feel ‘safe and relaxed,’ and that Craig shared personal details about his family and his marriage. She recalled that Craig was not yet divorced at that time. Despite some reservations, their relationship quickly developed, with Cain describing their interactions as emotionally intense. Over the next 18 days, the pair exchanged 4,000 texts, which she described as ‘things that made me feel great.’ Although she admitted some of the messages became sexting, she maintained that their relationship was not sexual in nature at first.

Craig expressed his deep affection for Cain through poetic and spiritual messages, including instances where he would pray for his children. However, Cain later confessed that she was not fully aware of the truth behind some of his claims at the time. She initially believed that Craig’s wife, Angela, was in the process of finalizing their divorce. This led her to believe that Craig was living in an apartment in separate from his wife at the time. However, as their relationship progressed, Cain realized that the details she had assumed were not always accurate. She admitted that she had no idea that Craig was still married to Angela, or that he had been texting other women or had hired a prostitute in Las Vegas.

A significant point in the affair was when Craig mentioned concerns about Angela’s mental health, expressing that he believed she was suicidal and had attempted to take her own life before. Cain believed him and maintained her trust in him throughout the relationship. However, she also realized later that some of the information he provided to her was false. Craig had told her that he did not know about her relationship with him when he spoke to Angela about the alleged drugging, and that he was at work on the days that Angela went to the ER. Cain stated that she initially believed both of these statements.

As the relationship continued, Cain’s excitement grew, and she shared her feelings with friends, but kept it hidden from her family. Craig, in turn, expressed his desire for marriage, and Cain responded with the possibility of agreeing to such a union. They maintained their relationship through texting until she decided to visit him in Colorado. However, due to Angela’s illness, her travel plans were delayed, and she was only able to fly to the state on March 16, 2023. During her stay, she met with Craig and continued their relationship, which eventually led toCraig’s arrest at 2 a.m. on March 19.

Cain testified that during the trial, she described the relationship as ‘infatuation,’ but also emphasized that she had believed it was genuine at the time. Her testimony has added a new layer of complexity to the case, especially as the prosecution continues to probe the truth behind Craig’s actions and the circumstances of the murder. With additional testimonies and evidence expected, the trial is moving toward further revelations.
