Grassley Criticizes Democrats’ Handling of Bove Whistleblower Allegations

Senate Judiciary Committee chair Chuck Grassley has publicly criticized the Democrats for their alleged mishandling of recent whistleblower allegations against Emil Bove, Trump’s nominee for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Grassley expressed frustration over the delayed access to information and the lack of cooperation from Democrats, asserting that their approach does not demonstrate proper respect for whistleblowers. Bove’s confirmation vote, which could be scheduled as early as Tuesday, faces opposition from key Republicans, including Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Susan, Collins, who are expected to vote against him.

Grassley’s team met Monday with lawyers for a third whistleblower testifying against Bove, highlighting ongoing scrutiny over the nominee’s potential misconduct. The allegations center on Bove’s alleged suggestions to defy court orders, which could impact the administration’s immigration policies. Democrats argue these complaints justify disqualifying Bove from a lifetime judgeship, but it is unlikely this will sway more Republicans to oppose him.

Grassley’s spokesperson, Clare Slattery, also criticized the late timing of the new whistleblower’s complaint, claiming it reeks of bad faith and attempts to derail a nominee already approved by the committee.
