Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has revealed that Russian forces have conducted over 10,000 chemical attacks since the beginning of the full-scale war. These attacks, which have targeted Ukrainian defensive positions, have been primarily executed using first-person view (FPV) drones. The SBU’s report highlights the systematic use of such technology in the conflict, raising serious concerns about the methods employed by Russian military forces.
The use of FPV drones in chemical warfare is particularly alarming, as these unmanned aerial vehicles allow for precise targeting and the delivery of chemical munitions with minimal risk to the operators. Ukrainian officials have called for international condemnation and increased sanctions against Russia for these atrocities. The SBU’s findings add to the growing body of evidence suggesting that Russia is using banned warfare tactics, which could have severe humanitarian and environmental consequences.
