Florida Honors Hulk Hogan with Memorial Day Declaration

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared Aug. 1 as ‘Hulk Hogan Day in Florida’ to honor the late wrestling icon, who died from a heart attack. The designation comes one week after Hogan’s death, with flags flown at half-staff at state and local landmarks as a tribute.

DeSantis outlined Hogan’s legacy, noting his birth in Augusta, Georgia, and rise to fame in the 1970s, including his WWE Hall of Fame inductions and impact on fans across generations. Hogan’s death was confirmed by officials, who cited a heart attack as the cause, with medical records also revealing a history of atrial fibrillation and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

His wife, Sky Daily Hogan, shared an emotional social media post about his battle with health issues, expressing her belief that they could overcome them. While the official cause of death was a heart attack, his family’s ongoing fight with other health conditions highlighted the struggle he faced in his final months.
