Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation Moves to Restrict Starlink in Occupied Territories

Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation, under the leadership of First Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, is addressing the challenge of Starlink operations in occupied territories. Fedorov announced this during a test of Starlink Direct to Cell technology with Kyivstar in the Zhytomyr region.

The initiative aims to counteract the use of Starlink services in areas under occupation, ensuring that Ukrainian infrastructure and communications remain secure and under national control. By implementing restrictions on Starlink operations within occupied regions, Ukraine seeks to prevent any potential exploitation of the technology by occupying forces.

Fedorov emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust digital infrastructure, which is crucial for both national security and the ongoing efforts to restore stability across Ukraine. This move reflects Ukraine’s broader strategy to safeguard its technological assets while continuing to develop and expand its digital capabilities in the face of ongoing challenges.
