Trump Predicts 25% Chance of Failure in Upcoming Putin Summit

US President Donald Trump has indicated that there is a 25% probability that his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska will not proceed successfully. The summit, set for Friday at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, is anticipated to focus primarily on seeking a resolution to the ongoing Ukraine conflict. During an interview with Fox News Radio, Trump stated, ‘Yeah, 25%.’ He further explained that the meeting would set the stage for a potential second encounter between Putin and Ukraine’s leader, President Volodymyr Zelensky, which he labeled ‘extremely important’ for forging a peace deal that could involve territorial exchanges.

Earlier this week, Trump hinted that any solution to the conflict might involve territorial exchanges. Moscow has also indicated that it received an ‘acceptable offer’ from Washington through US special envoy Steve Witkoff during previous talks with Putin. The Kremlin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, described Witkoff’s visit as ‘productive’ and noted that it paved the way for the Alaska summit. Meanwhile, Putin has praised the Trump administration for making ‘quite energetic and sincere efforts’ to halt hostilities in Ukraine, stating that Washington is working to create ‘the long-term conditions of peace between our countries and in Europe, and in the world as a whole.’
