Ukrainian Pharmacy Sales Rise 11% in H1 2025, but Volume Declines

Business Credit, a leading Ukrainian business research firm, has reported that pharmacy sales in Ukraine saw a significant increase in monetary terms during the first half of 2025. This growth, which amounted to 11%, reflects a total of UAH 105.214 billion in sales for the period, marking a strong performance in the pharmaceutical sector. These figures are based on a comprehensive study conducted by the company and published through Interfax-Ukraine.

However, the study also noted a decline in the volume of pharmaceutical products sold, with a 2.78% decrease in the number of packages sold compared to the same period in 2024. The total number of packages sold dropped to 567.02 million, indicating potential challenges in meeting the demand for medical products in the country. This could point to various factors, such as changes in consumer behavior, supply chain disruptions, or shifts in healthcare policies affecting the distribution of pharmaceuticals in Ukraine.

The mixed results highlight the complex dynamics within Ukraine’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. While the monetary growth is a positive sign for the industry’s financial health, the decrease in volume suggests underlying issues that could impact long-term sustainability. Analysts are calling for further data to understand the reasons behind the volume decline and how the industry can adapt to these changes. As the Ukrainian market continues to evolve, the balance between financial performance and operational efficiency will be crucial in shaping the future of pharmaceutical sales in the country.
