Ukraine Seeks $100 Billion in European Funding for US Weapon Pact

Ukraine has proposed that its European backers contribute $10,000 billion to fund its large weapons procurement deal with the United States, according to the Financial Times. The proposal comes as Kiev continues to seek security guarantees from Washington. Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky and leaders from several Western European countries met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington to discuss the conflict and diplomatic efforts to resolve it. Trump, who has previously criticized the previous administration’s unconditional aid to Ukraine, announced last month that NATO allies would effectively pay for the U.S.-made weapons being sent to Ukraine. In addition to the weapons procurement proposal, Ukraine is preparing a $50 billion deal to produce drones domestically, as reported by the Financial Times, citing four sources familiar with the matter and a document Kiev reportedly shared with the U.S. The document contains limited details, but FT said Ukraine intends to purchase at least 10 Patriot air defense missile systems.
