Elon Musk Offers to Fund Lawsuits Against UK Officials Over Grooming Gangs
Elon Musk has come under fire for his controversial statement in which he claims to be prepared to fund legal cases against ‘corrupt officials’ in Britain after a government inquiry found gross negligence in handling cases of grooming gangs. The inquiry found that local British authorities have been negligent in responding to widespread child abuse, with the gangs primarily consisting of men of Pakistani descent who have engaged in the systematic rape and torture of vulnerable girls, many of whom are underage. Musk’s offer to support legal actions against those who allowed the abuse to continue has sparked a heated debate, with critics decrying his comments as being tone-deaf and insensitive.
Musk has linked his offer to an inquiry led by Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe, which identified 85 local areas where gang-related child sexual exploitation has taken place, both in the past and present. The inquiry has received hundreds of survivor and whistleblower reports, with thousands of Freedom of Information requests submitted to support the research.
In June, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reversed his earlier position and agreed to launch a national inquiry into the sexual exploitation of thousands of girls by gangs. Musk has also added in a later post that he wants to start by condemning the ‘grovelers and collaborators in positions of authority in Britain who aided the rape epidemic of their own people or turned a blind eye to their responsibilities,’ with both civil and criminal prosecutions.
