Robin Wright, the acclaimed ‘House of Cards’ star, has openly revealed her ‘huge regret’ as a mother for raising her children, Dylan and Hopper, with her former husband Sean Penn. In a recent interview with The Times of London, Wright reflected on her parenting choices, admitting she wasn’t strict enough on her children, who are now 34 and 32, respectively.
Wright and Penn, who married in 1996 and divorced in 2010, both admitted to being extreme in their parenting styles, which left their children without a middle ground of discipline. ‘I wasn’t hard enough on them,’ Wright said. ‘But [Sean] was gone so much of the time,’ she added, explaining how their frequent absences and lack of balance affected their upbringing.
Wright, who has three failed marriages under her belt, has moved to England in search of a simpler, more peaceful life. She recently met her new partner, Henry Smith, and shared the unusual way they came to know each other during a shared bout of COVID-19 illness. ‘Getting to know each other in deep long COVID was like the fast track,’ she said, highlighting how their experience made them closer.
‘I love being in this country. There’s a freedom of self here,’ Wright remarked, expressing her satisfaction with her new life away from the hustle of Hollywood. She also discussed her new role in Prime Video’s ‘The Girlfriend’ and her plans to settle in the English seaside with her new partner. ‘It’s liberating to be done,’ she said, emphasizing her contentment with her current life.
