Trump’s America250 Aims to Unveil World’s Largest American Flag for 250th Independence Anniversary

President Donald Trump’s America250 organization is set to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence with the creation of the world’s largest American flag, set to be unveiled in the spring of 2026. The flag, which will measure 776 feet wide and 1,492 feet long, aims to surpass the height of New York City’s iconic Empire State Building and nearly double the size of the Pentagon. However, the National Mall is not considered a viable location for the flag’s display due to its size, prompting officials to explore alternative venues such as Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, a NASCAR speedway, or Lebanon, Kansas, the geographic center of the United States. The project is expected to symbolize a moment of national unity and pride, with the flag to be made in America and unfurled by hundreds of patriots in a historic celebration of American heritage.

The initiative is part of a broader effort by America250 to commemorate the nation’s history and inspire future generations. The organization has already planned additional events in 2025, including the U.S. Navy’s birthday in October and the U.S. Marine Corps’ birthday in November. These events are intended to foster patriotic sentiment across the country. However, the project has faced some controversy, particularly following the appointment of former President John F. Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, to the America250 commission by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. Critics have raised concerns over the composition and management of the commission, which has sparked debates about the project’s intended focus and leadership. Despite these challenges, America250’s leadership remains confident in the project’s success, with America250 Executive Director Ari Abergel emphasizing that it will be remembered as President Trump’s celebration, underscoring the importance of his involvement in the initiative.
