Mozilla Ends 32-bit Linux Firefox Support in 2026

Mozilla has announced it will end 32-bit Linux support for Firefox in 2026, with version 144 as the final release and ESR 140 as a fallback option. The decision follows declining interest in 32-bit systems among Linux distributions and the broader industry shift toward x86_64 architecture.

Phoronix reports that Firefox has continued to provide 32-bit Linux binaries, even as most other web browsers and operating systems have transitioned to x86_64 support. However, as 32-bit Linux support wanes and most distributions no longer ship i686 install images, Mozilla is moving to discontinue 32-bit Linux builds in 2026.
