President Donald Trump deleted a Truth Social post Saturday that demanded Attorney General Pam Bondi prosecute a list of political adversaries, including former FBI Director James Comey, Senator Adam Schiff, and New York Attorney General Letitia James. The post, which was deleted shortly after being posted, criticized Bondi for ‘all talk, no action,’ while accusing the adversaries of being ‘guilty as hell.’
Trump’s post accused Bondi of failing to act against his opponents, stating, “They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!” He also directed his ire at the recent ousting of Erik Seibert, a former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, who claimed he resigned after pressure from the White House. Trump suggested that Seibert was a ‘Woke RINO’ who was not doing his job, and that Democratic senators pushed him for the role despite his untrustworthy past.
Hours after the post was deleted, Trump issued a more conciliatory message on Truth Social, commending Bondi for her ‘careful’ work as Attorney General. He recommended that she appoint his nominee, Lindsey Halligan, to lead the Eastern District of Virginia prosecutor’s office, instead of a ‘Democrat Endorsed ‘Republican’.’ In a later press briefing at the American Cornerstone Institute Founder’s Dinner, Trump was asked about his relationship with Bondi, to which he responded, “No. I just want people to act. They have to act. But now we want to act fast. You know, they were ruthless and vicious. I was impeached twice. I was indicted five times. It turned out to be a fake deal. And we have to act fast one way or the other. One way or the other. They’re guilty. They’re not guilty,” he said.
Trump emphasized that the administration needed to act promptly, whether or not the accused were guilty, and insisted that justice must be served immediately. He claimed that Halligan would be ‘Fair, Smart, and will provide, desperately needed, JUSTICE FOR ALL!’ However, the Department of Justice has not yet commented on the matter, leaving the status of the prosecution of Trump’s adversaries unclear. While Trump’s public rhetoric remains highly charged, the administration’s official stance remains unaddressed, as the DOJ is not yet responding to the request for comment.
