Las Vegas Launches Citywide Discounts to Boost Tourism Amid Decline

Las Vegas is taking a proactive approach to reverse the declining trend in tourism by launching a citywide discount event called ‘The Fabulous 5-Day Sale.’ The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) announced this initiative to attract visitors with significant savings on accommodations, entertainment, and dining. The deal began on Monday and will last until Friday, offering discounts on hotels, shows, dining and other events. Popular resorts such as the Bellagio, the Venetian, and the Fontainebleu are participating in the event, each offering unique incentives such as food credits and reduced room rates.

The city launched a $35 million ‘Welcome to Fabulous’ campaign in September, further supporting the marketing efforts to draw more visitors. The monorail is also offering a ‘buy-one-ticket-get-one-half-off’ deal, while MGM Resorts has a ‘special-for-two-attractions’ deal for $55. In addition to the citywide events, some visitors have noted that the city still feels lively, with places like the Bellagio fountain remaining a magnet for crowds.

While official data from the LVCVA shows a 7% decline in occupancy on the Strip from 86.5% in 2024, some tourists express that the city remains busy. Katherine from Texas, for instance, mentioned that it’s her third time visiting and that the city doesn’t feel slow to her. Oren from Ireland, on his first trip, said it’s a bit busy, but he was also surprised by the high costs in Sin City. The city’s strategy combines discounts and a strong marketing campaign with an emphasis on its unique attractions to attract new and returning visitors, aiming to stabilize the tourism sector amid economic challenges.
