On Tuesday evening, Oslo, Norway, was shaken by a series of explosions near the Israeli embassy and the Royal Palace. Norwegian police are investigating the incident, which involved the discovery of ‘military-style’ hand grenades. The first explosion occurred around 8:45pm local time on Pilestredet street near a university campus, approximately 500 meters from the embassies. Emergency alerts were issued to residents, advising them to stay away from windows after a second grenade was found. Police conducted a controlled detonation, cordoning off the area and disrupting tram services.
Authorities noted that no injuries were reported, and one suspect was taken into custody for questioning. However, local media, such as Aftenposten, reported that the arrested individual was a 13-year-old boy, although police did not confirm the suspect’s age. Incident commander Brian Skotnes stated that the motive remains unclear, with the hypothesis suggesting it could be a gang-related incident targeting other criminals. Police emphasized that they cannot rule out any possibilities and are intensively seeking more information and other individuals involved.
