Leftist Gun Club Tied to Political Violence Spreads Recruitment at Georgetown University
In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination allegedly carried out by a left-wing ideologue, a far-left gun club with ties to political violence has posted recruitment materials on Georgetown University’s campus. The John Brown Gun Club, a group known for its involvement in anti-ICE violence and political extremism, has been linked to recent acts of political violence, including the murder of Charlie Kirk. The group’s recruitment materials reference Kirk’s assassination, with flyers posted on campus reading, ‘Hey fascist! Catch!’ The flyers also include a QR code linking to a page that says, ‘We’re building a community that’s done with ceremonial resistance and strongly worded letters. If you want to make a real change in your community, let us know below.’
The John Brown Gun Club is also known for its involvement in recent anti-ICE violence. Some of its members have been accused of shooting at an ICE detention center in Texas, resulting in injuries to a local police officer. Several suspects are now facing federal charges, including three counts of attempted murder of federal agents. One of the suspects, Benjamin Song, is a long-time antifa agitator who was involved in a skirmish with a right-wing group during a drag event in Fort Worth. The New Columbia Movement, a right-wing group, has filed a lawsuit against the John Brown Gun Club’s Elm Fork Chapter, accusing Song of pepper spraying its members. However, Song was never charged criminally.
The John Brown Gun Club is named after the militant abolitionist John Brown, who led a raid on a federal armory in Harper’s Ferry in 1856. This event is part of the broader context of political violence on campus, with similar incidents occurring in the years following the Charlie Kirk assassination. The university’s spokesperson has stated that it has no tolerance for calls for violence or threats to the campus community and has removed the posters and is investigating the incident.
This incident highlights the growing concerns about the spread of political violence on college campuses. The John Brown Gun Club’s activities are part of a larger trend of far-left groups resorting to violence to promote their political agendas. The presence of such groups on campuses raises questions about the safety of students and faculty, as well as the role of universities in managing such threats. The university’s response to this incident underscores the need for greater vigilance and proactive measures to prevent the spread of political violence on campuses.
