EXCLUSIVE: A Trump administration official was physically assaulted by a ‘deranged leftist’ at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Thursday, according to Fox News Digital. The incident occurred as the U.S. delegation was attending the UN General Assembly, a major diplomatic event in New York City.
The attack took place when an official working in international relations for the Department of Health and Human Services was serving as a support role for HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the department’s leadership team at UNGA. The official was followed into a bathroom, recorded, physically assaulted, and verbally accosted by a ‘deranged leftist’ who bypassed multiple layers of security.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly told Fox News Digital that the attack was part of a disturbing pattern of failures by the UN, which has been critical of the Trump administration’s policies. She called the incident ‘unacceptable’ and urged the UN to address the issue swiftly. She also noted that the U.S. Secret Service will investigate how the violent protester was admitted into a major national security event.
The U.S. UN spokesperson called the attack ‘unacceptable,’ stating that the UN must address the issue and improve its security operations. ‘We know the UN needs dramatic reform and now must also immediately implement a thorough review of the UN’s security operations,’ the spokesperson said. ‘The UN’s failures are evident worldwide, and now in its own halls.’
The official recounted the event in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital. They described the harassment by a woman who began berating them, shining a bright light in their face, and using a recording device. The official stated that the incident lasted approximately 10 minutes and was highly political in nature.
According to the official, the woman called them a ‘fascist’ and a ‘Nazi,’ and continued to follow them into the bathroom, pushing and trying to get into the stall. Despite the official’s efforts to hide, the woman continued to yell and film them. Eventually, the official was able to get away, but the incident left them feeling threatened and unsafe.
The woman was arrested by the New York City Police Department, though it is unclear if she is still in custody. The NYPD did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. The United Nations did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
The incident has reignited tensions between the U.S. and the UN, with the White House and U.S. UN representatives calling for swift action and reform. The attack is seen as part of a larger pattern of harassment and threats against the Trump administration, with the official stating that such incidents are a ‘scary thing’ for the team but that they are ‘more empowered’ due to their strong leadership.
