The Ukrainian Association of Bakers has reported a 10% drop in bread and bakery production for the first seven months of 2025. This decline comes amid ongoing challenges related to the war in Eastern Ukraine, which has disrupted manufacturing processes and supply chains. First Vice President Yuriy Duchenko explained that despite the decrease in production, the market value of the sector is expected to grow by 15% by the end of the year, reaching UAH 33.6 billion.
This projection takes into account factors such as increased demand for local products due to supply chain disruptions, as well as government incentives aimed at supporting domestic industries. Duchenko noted that the industry is adapting to these challenges by improving efficiency and expanding into new markets. While the immediate outlook is one of contraction, the long-term prospects for the Ukrainian bakery industry remain positive.
