Kamala Harris’ Memoir Set to Become Year’s Top-Selling Book

Kamala Harris’ memoir, 107 Days, is on track to become the year’s best-selling memoir after selling 350,000 copies in its first week, according to Simon & Schuster. The book, which details her frenetic 15 weeks as the Democratic nominee for president, has already surpassed the sales of other celebrity memoirs since 2023. However, the memoir has sparked controversy within her party, as top Democrats have criticized her candid account of the 2024 campaign, particularly her critique of former President Joe Biden and her campaign strategies.

While Harris has attempted to walk back some of her criticisms, her memoir has further alienated Democrats still reeling from the loss of the White House to Donald Trump. In her memoir, Harris wrote that the White House communications shop under Biden saddled her with unpopular policy priorities and amplified negative stories about her office. She wrote that in hindsight, refraining from pushing him to drop out of the presidential race earlier was reckless.

Despite the backlash, Harris has emphasized the strong relationship she maintains with former President Biden. On The View last week, she stated that their relationship is based on mutual respect, having been in the trenches together, and admiration. However, the memoires’ candid revelations about the Democratic presidential campaign have left her party divided, with many top Democrats expressing discomfort with her blunt critique of Biden and the leadership’s decisions during the campaign.

Simon & Schuster described the memoir as one of the most interesting books ever written about the experience of running for President of the United States, highlighting its galvanizing and inspiring cultural impact. Yet, the publication’s acclaim has not shielded Harris from the backlash within her own party, which remains skeptical about her role in the Democratic campaign and its aftermath.
