NBA Prospect Collin Murray-Boyles’ Viral Reaction to Toronto Raptors Draft Selection

Collin Murray-Boyles, the Toronto Raptors’ newest player, was captured on camera uttering the F-word as he learned he had been selected by the Raptors at the NBA Draft on Wednesday night. The Raptors picked Murray-Boyles with the No. 9 pick out of South Carolina, and the moment left fans questioning his reaction.

As he stood at his table, Murray-Bo.Boyles appeared to mutter the expletive, either out of surprise or disbelief at the team’s selection. Although the NBA world took note of his reaction, Murray-Boyles later addressed the incident, clarifying that his words were a result of disbelief and that he was grateful for the opportunity.

Murray-Boyles, who played two seasons with the Gamecocks, made the All-SEC Freshman in his first season and was All-SEC in his second season. He led the conference with a 58.6 field goal percentage in 2024-25 and averaged 16.8 points per game.

The Raptors, who finished 11th in the Eastern Conference, will bring back R.J. Barrett, Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, Jakob Poeltl, and Gradey Dick next year. Adding Murray-Boyles to the mix may put the Raptors in contention for the postseason once again.
