Former Ukrainian Economy Minister Sheremet Resigns from Raiffeisen Bank Supervisory Board

Pavlo Sheremeta, who previously held the position of Minister of Economic Development and Trade in Ukraine in 2014, has stepped down from the supervisory board of Raiffeisen Bank. His resignation, effective October 15, 2025, comes after he was mobilized in May and has been serving as a senior officer within the National Guard’s 2nd Corps in the Khartiya Brigade.

Sheremeta’s departure from the bank’s supervisory board marks a significant shift in his professional trajectory, reflecting his commitment to his military duties. The decision to resign from the supervisory board was likely influenced by the demands of his current role in the National Guard. As a senior officer in the 2nd Corps, Sheremeta has been actively involved in the ongoing military operations, which have required a substantial commitment of time and effort.

Raiffeisen Bank, a major financial institution in Ukraine, has announced that it will proceed with its supervisory board in accordance with its internal bylaws following Sheremeta’s resignation. The bank’s management has expressed its appreciation for his contributions to the organization and his dedication to his responsibilities. This development highlights the intersection of public service and private sector involvement in Ukraine’s economic landscape, underscoring the challenges faced by individuals who serve in both capacities during times of national need.
