Conservatives Challenge ‘The View’s’ Claims of Republican Fear to Appear

High-profile conservatives are mounting a counterattack on ABC’s ‘The View’ after a host suggested that some Republicans are too afraid to appear on the liberal program. Following the appearance of Cheryl Hines, wife of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., on the show, co-host Joy Behar remarked that some Republicans are ‘scared’ of coming on the program. Conservative radio host Clay Travis quickly denied the claim, sharing an email from his producer indicating interest in appearing on the show, stating, ‘I’m happy to come by for a visit.’

Travis, along with radio co-host Buck Sexton, posted on social media that the show has ‘no love’ for them. Riley Gaines, a well-known advocate for protecting women’s sports, also shared that she was initially rejected by the show when pitched to appear, echoing Behar’s remarks. Conservative pundit Matt Walsh added that he, too, was turned down, suggesting that the show has a bias against conservative guests.

Fox News Digital obtained emails showing that the show’s bookers either denied or ignored pitches from prominent conservative figures. These include Riley Gaines, Matt Walsh, and New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz. Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer was also turned away when a representative attempted to secure a spot for him during Veterans Day next month.

NewsBusters reported in 2023 that Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz wanted to appear on ‘The View’ during a book tour but was turned down. Cruz later shared Riley Gaines’ post on social media, saying, ‘Me too!’ XX-XY owner Jennifer Sey added, ‘This is hilarious. We aren’t afraid of you. You reject us all when we are pitched to go on your show.’

Despite these denials, the show has previously featured conservative guests such as Ted Cruz, Caitlyn Jenner, Donald Trump Jr., Newt Gingrich, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Marsha Blackburn. However, critics argue that the show does not fairly represent Republican views, noting that the only conservative co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, has been largely critical of the current administration and her co-hosts all supported Kamala Harris in 2024. Ana Navarro, who identifies as a Republican, hosted one of the nights of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, further highlighting the ideological gap.

‘The View’ declined to comment when reached by Fox News Digital. As the debate over media representation continues, conservatives remain determined to challenge the show’s editorial stance and ensure their voices are heard on national television.
