Inside Spanberger Campaign’s Inner Circle: Concerns Over Candidate and Election Dynamics
A campaign organizer for Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Abigail Spanberger expressed concerns about her own candidate and the Virginia election, calling the race ‘in the darkest timeline’ between the two nominees. The comments, revealed in an undercover video obtained by Fox News Digital, highlight internal tensions and criticisms within the campaign, including doubts about the candidate’s law enforcement background and the political landscape.
Fredrica-Maame Ama Deegbe, who was previously listed as a ‘Campaign Organizer for Spanberger 2025’ on her LinkedIn profile, bemoaned the choices presented to voters in the video. She cited concerns about both Republican candidate Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears and her own candidate, Abigail Spanberger. Despite the campaign’s efforts, Deegbe expressed frustration, stating, ‘CIA agent, literally, which is crazy, like yeah, vote for the CIA agent, guys, like what the f—,’ indicating her discomfort with Spanberger’s background.
The video, which has since been deleted, revealed Deegbe’s frustration with the political landscape and the candidates. She admitted to working on the campaign for financial reasons, stating, ‘They pay me really, really good money.’ However, she also expressed her belief that the campaign is a ‘pyramid scheme,’ where the focus is more on representation than on the candidate herself. ‘Focusing so much on the representation, it kind of feels like I’m in The Wizard of Oz … like all of this is behind the smoke and mirrors and curtains,’ she said, highlighting the disconnect between the candidate’s image and her actual work.
Despite these concerns, Deegbe ultimately expressed support for Spanberger, stating, ‘I think she represents the idea. I know she represents the idea as best of an idea as we can find right now.’ However, her comments raise questions about the internal dynamics of the campaign and the broader implications of the Virginia race, which is seen as a bellwether for the 2026 midterm elections. The race, between Spanberger and Earle-Sears, is viewed as a significant indicator of the political mood in the country, with both candidates facing scrutiny over recent controversies involving their allies.
