New Jersey Officials Release 911 Calls from Tragic Teen Double Murder
A chilling 911 call audio has been made public by New Jersey officials, revealing the horrific details of a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the deaths of two teenage girls, Isabella Salas and Maria Niotis. The incident occurred on September 29, when both girls, who were also 17, were killed while riding an electric bike in Cranford, New Jersey. The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was reportedly driving a 2021 black Jeep Compass at the time of the alleged collision.
According to the statement released by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, the two girls were pronounced dead shortly after the crash. The suspect, who was not named publicly as he had not yet been charged as an adult, was detained by law enforcement following the incident and was released to his father. Later, the suspect was arrested on October 1 after the complaints were approved for two counts of first-degree murder, with the suspect currently in custody.
The 911 call recordings, obtained by Fox News Digital through a FOIA request, depict the chaos and panic surrounding the scene. One caller described the suspect’s black SUV as flying down the road and hitting people, with one victim being unresponsive. Another caller, describing the scene, said, “This is really bad,” and later added, “Nobody’s conscious, everyone’s stunned, not moving.” A third caller expressed distress, stating, “There’s a girl on the road, and there’s a car! Oh my god, please hurry!” The caller also noted, “It was flying, it was black. That’s all I know,” describing the vehicle’s speed and the intensity of the moment.
The family of one of the victims, Maria Niotis, expressed deep frustration over the inaction of local law enforcement. Foulla Niotis, Maria’s mother, stated that the suspect had shown stalking behavior toward her daughter and that the family had reported this to the authorities. “They should have done a lot. They didn’t do anything,” she said, adding that the suspect seemed to believe he was untouchable due to his family connections.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the suspect was detained after the incident for questioning and released pending further investigation. However, the arrest on October 1 underscores the severity of the charges brought against him. The Union County Prosecutor’s Office has emphasized that the case is under investigation, and the family is seeking justice for the two girls who lost their lives in this tragic incident.
