U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a detainer on Franklin Oriel Fajardo-Arana, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, who is charged with DUI manslaughter after a crash in Mobile, Alabama killed a 16-year-old. The incident involved a traffic accident on Sunday, where a Toyota Corolla collided with a Toyota 4Runner, resulting in the death of a teenage passenger. ICE noted that Fajardo-Arana was under investigation for a separate DUI offense in Kentucky, and an immigration detainer was issued by ERO New Orleans, ensuring his transfer to ICE custody upon release from jail.
Ernest Williams, a local barber who witnessed the crash, expressed his concern over the incident, stating that the suddenness of the event left them in shock. He recounted how he and other barbers rushed to the scene to assist, highlighting the community’s immediate response to the tragedy.
