Diddy Begins Federal Prison Term for Sex Crimes, Scheduled for Release in 2028

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the iconic rapper and former music producer, has begun serving his 50-month federal prison sentence at Fort Dix following a July conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The sentencing, handed down in October, marks a significant turning point in the legal battle that has unfolded since his arrest on September 16, 2024, at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.

Combs, 55, was officially transferred to Fort Dix on Thursday morning, as confirmed by Fox News Digital. He is scheduled to be released from federal custody on May 8, 2028, according to the Bureau of Prisons. His sentence also includes five years of supervised release and a $500,000 fine. The prosecution had recommended a harsher sentence of over 11 years, but the judge opted for the 50-month term, which, while severe, reflects the gravity of the charges.

Diddy’s legal team, led by Teny Geragos, had previously petitioned Judge Arun Subramanian to transfer him to Fort Dix, emphasizing the potential benefits of the RDAP (Reentry Drug Abuse Program) for addressing drug abuse issues and enhancing rehabilitation efforts. Geragos argued that the conditions at Fort Dix would allow for more family visits and structured rehabilitation, which could aid Combs’ reintegration into society after his incarceration.

Despite the legal strategies, the prosecution maintained that Diddy’s unrepentant attitude warranted a
